I used to use Nero 6, but can't now.

I used to use Nero 6 in win xp but find that this doesn't work anymore in win 7.
I am using ImgBurn and find that it works well but that it doesn't allow the user to change the burn speed (or if the setting is there I can't find it).
Any ideas for alternative burning software?

    Thanx

There is also a free version of Nero.... It's a pretty stripped down version, but I'm sure it will meet your needs.

A stripped down version of Nero is a great idea since the Nero software usually has a ton of bloat that is simply not needed.

With that said, imgburn user here.

    You're welcome Lochee...

Play around with both burners and see which you prefer.

For alternatives, I recommend Ashampoo Burning Studio because the features are outstanding and without the bloat that Nero has. But I also have a link for a free basic alternative called burnaware. I don't have a clue what options it has because I haven't tested yet, but will provide it to you if you in case the product matches your budget.

I checked it out when it first came out and saying pretty stripped down is an understatement. Basically all it is is the fancy new Nero 9 GUI, but doesn't have any more functionality than what Windows can do natively.

In addition to the other recommendations there is also this,
