    Windows Live Messenger compatibility

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with an issue I've encountered on my computer with Windows Live Messenger.

I've been aware that in order to put Windows Live Messenger into the system tray, you have to set Messenger into compatibility for Windows Vista. However, when I do this, Messenger still appears in the task bar. Anyone know why this is happening?

And I've tried using the other modes like XP, it works, but I then I can't use the "show what I'm listening to" with Windows Media Player and Messenger.

    Hello Xeenom,

It works, but you will need to close (red x) the Windows Live Messenger window to minimize it to the taskbar notification area.

    Hope this helps,

I did that, and I still don't get it in the system tray under Windows Vista

Umm, have you updated your Windows Live Messenger to the latest version that was just released today yet? It may work for you afterwards with the new version.

Alright, so I updated, and set it to Windows Vista, but it still ends up in the taskbar
Like I said before, I could set it to Windows XP and have it in the the system tray, but I end up not being able to use the "show what I'm listening to" plug-in in Messenger.

    Xeenom,

Could you post a screenshot of your desktop with the taskbar included showing what it is doing? This may help to see what may be happening.
