Theoretically speaking it is not the same thing. ODBC has to to with databases and SQL. It has nothing to do with surfing the internet. Did you read link supplied by ccatlett1984? This link clearly explains the function of ODBC.

database=scripts, files, programs, data, general information amalgamated into one location for access. Said data is of variety (m) where m=my flavor. it's quite possible, you know the grey poupon saying.

You technically could compile a database to check against KNOWN exploit scripts, and file extensions that you don't want to run. That could be hooked into a web browser to check what should be allowed to run, vs not. This would be next to impossible to update based on day to day exploits that are found. The best way is to block everything and only allow what you trust is safe. IE. The NoScript add-on for Firefox.

ODBC is a "bridge" between your ODBC compatible app and an ODBC compatible Database, so ODBC does NOT contain any database - it's a bridge... I'm posting politely, it is a crazy idea. I ask you, since it's a bridge - how exactly do you make it detect "scripts"? It can't even store ANYTHING, it's a bridge between app and database server, an abstraction layer.
