    Software

Just a curious question. Is Windows 7 anything like Vista when it comes to software. Vista hardly ran any of my tried and true software I had collected over the years. Is Windows 7 going to be the same way ???

    Hello Huffman,

If the software runs on Vista, then it will most likely run on Windows 7 as well. You can also use Compatibility Mode or Windows XP Mode on programs that do not run properly.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Ive found most of the software I run, runs without issue. And as Brink mentioned you have the two options above.

Thanks for the info. One of the major reasons I never went to Vista was that most of my software would NOT run correctly on it. Software is NOT cheap and Vista was going to cost me a fortune to upgrade all my software.

If you have compatibility problems this time, you could try the new XP mode.

    You're welcome Huffman.

If you do have any issues with any of them, be sure to post in the Software forum about it so that we can see if we can help you with it. :)

Vista has improved on that issue considerably. I've found hardly any problems I can't solve using compatability mode.

In a couple of cases a manufacturer, who stated categorically that they would never support Vista when it first came out, now have done.

I find Windows 7 even better than Vista on that score.
