Random Folders keep appearing on c:

Almost every time the computer is turned on in the morning a new folder is created in c:\
It has a random alpha-numeric name, and contains an empty folder named "Sandbox"

I am running Windows 7 Pro-64bit with AVG enterpirse edition.

What creates these folders? Is there a way to get them to stop popping up?Thanks.

I'm seeing the same thing, but I don't have a program called "sandboxie" installed. I like to keep things clean, so this kind of bothers me.

since your problem is different you should start your own thread. You will get more support and it will be less confusing

I too have the same issue, folders with hex names containing an empty folder named "sandbox" appear almost daily. I was also not able to find the program "sandboxie" installed.

These folders appear on the c: drive and an external hard drive, and the 200+ cryptic folder names make browsing a real chore.

I did notice that the time of folder creation corresponds with entries in the application event log for a MsiInstaller reconfiguring Office 2007. Is there any way to stop this?
