I use c cleaner for years now and I'm very happy with it. Even happier that they now have a product upgrade to accommodate Windows 7.

Though many people are still skeptic about registry cleaner software I still prefer to have them. Using a valid registry utility program should be able to prove these people wrong. I used to have problems with my computer but once I use my cleaner application my computer's spend dramatically changes so I don't see any reason why shouldn't I use it with my Windows 7. Even if they say that it is already a complete package I still believe that employing a third party registry cleaner will do more good otherwise these product provider would have ceased developing a Windows 7 compatible version of their applications.
If you knew what the registry was and why invalid/old keys do nothing if software isn't pointing to them then you would know that a registry cleaner actually doesn't do anything positive for your OS.

As Carl as has said. In absolute certainty, there is no need for other programs to maintain Windows 7. Old habits will fade from Windows 98 and XP. You came here for expert advise, you are receiving it. Old apps are like addictions. For instance: (index.dat files) You may think you are deleting index.dat files to keep yourself safe from the "so-called" snooping digital eyes of M$ or from filling up your hard drive. Not so. You HDD is huge and those index.dat files were never deleted in the old days---yet people still believe they slow down their systems. Nope, they are there to help--all the mystery and mystique about index.dat files was baloney. I know, I got spooked years ago too when I read the hype about M$ using index.dat files to spy on us....it's laughable now---but we all have to learn by exploring the truth and finding a place like "sevenforums" to find gurus and experts to have faith in. Listening to your neighbor or family member who throws out speculations to you based on lack of experience or hear-say, well----that's just not going to help you with your solid facts and ability to communicate solid help for other Windows users.

Bottom line: Nothing is what it use to be with Windows 7. When Windows 8 is released and we are interacting with "The Cloud", that will really change your habits---all of our habits...

By the way. Soon all mechanical hard drives will be replaced by solid-state, and those will not need any maintance at all. So get use to letting the Operatying System take care of itself. If you want CCleaner or Revo....yes they are "handy"....necessary? Nope. :)

I can't easily explain why, but more and more threads are being made about registry cleaners. Like what the others have said, use them only if you are experienced with handling them or if you know what you are doing.

I personally use registry cleaners but I always reserve a restore point and a backup and I also manually check which to remove. And in the past, I have seen the consequences that have taught me a few lessons.

If you are looking for the pros and cons of registry cleaners, all you can do is type that on Google and you would get tons of related results, or if you are here, just click the search button instead of making another thread here on something that had been discussed a thousand times on this forum.
