Not sure why you would "need" the software but you can grab 6.4.13.1 M here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42125.exe
Have no idea if it is compatible but have at it.

lol came back on to check something before I do a recovery.
Reason why I need it, is the buttons do nothing without the software. Well they do some things but not correctly. Its odd I know and for some reason HP refuses to give me the software. I think they are paranoid.
Oh well I will reinstall vista, wanted to see how well the final version of SP2 faired anyways
Hi - I am trying to do the same thing.
HP DV9700 - QL buttons (mute) respond to windows based commands (it turns orange when I mute through the volume mixer), but I don't know how to make them respond to touch.
I also don't know what devices they are in the device manager.
Anyone can help?
Thanks!
i got a windows update for HP Quick Launch Buttons for my 8510w. it doesn't work.
anyway, whey i upgraded from vista, Quick Launch is one of the apps that Win7 reported as not being compatible and i uninstalled it prior to upgrade. i lived without it and saw the update from MS. i downloaded and installed it. after the reboot, no changes. buttons still don't work and the mute button is on most of the time even though i get sound. strangely, the mute button goes off just before the sound is played, then it goes on again after the sound (notification, video, etc.) completes.
Well I found the software I needed, went to one of the HDX series' support page and it used the same software as myself.
Allenbrooks sorry but I have no clue what they are listed as under Device Manager, though this is just a guess but perhaps 'Microsoft eHome MCIR Keyboard' or 'Microsoft eHome Remote Control Keyboard keys'
Yasuro I'm guessing that it said the 'keyboard filter' was no compatible? Thats what it does for me, it does that even when you do a Vista to Vista upgrade (like Home Premium to Ultimate).
You could try to contact HP via phone/internet and ask them for help, perhaps they will be more helpful for you two then they were for me.
the keyboard filter is a separate issue. this is the HP quick buttons above the keyboard on most HP laptops. i think this is one of those issues that require waiting for new drivers for the quicklaunch buttons.
keyboard works just fine otherwise despite the keyboard filter driver error.
you not only have to install the hp's quicklaunch but you might have to also install quickplay...
this might also include the ene cir driver if you have a remote and the realtek sound driver...
