    HP 3D Driveguard neccessary?

Hey guys,it may be a silly question. But my laptop sits on my desk 99% of the time, and even when I carry it,it's power off. I think the 3D Driveguard is useless to me,right? Moreover,it has problem with SPTD so I can't even install Daemon Tools. DT support told me that my BSOD was from the problem of HP 3D driveguard and SPTD.

No you don't need it but I was under the impression that it was built in and part of the hardware and that very little (if not no) software was actually needed.

If you can disable it by all means do and see if it stops your BSoD but if it continues you may want to start a thread in our BSoD section, you never know how trust worthy tech support actually is .

    Hi osholt,

Thanks for your reply. 1.HP 3D driveguard is listed in programs and features and I have uninstalled it. 2.You are quite right about tech support. I still get the same BSOD without it. I'll forget about DT for a while anyway. :)
