    Hello Mandie,

If you are getting a message it is incompatible - better leave it alone.

Ther are a couple of free programs that work well and may provde somewhat similar functions - Ccleaner and Glaryutilities.

They both work well on 7100 - even on x64.

I would advise not using the Registry clean module on Ccleaner , or the Regdefrag module on Glary.

All the others work well and safely. Be sure to check the options on Ccleaner. For example uncheck the option to clear Windows Defender logs - or it will "forget" it has scanned.

if i don't use cccleaner to clean my registry or the defrag in glary
    1) hows it suppose to unistall / remove items in the reg ?
    2) allow quick access to an organised defragged defrag on bootup
this solution seems to have me confused ??????
and i have never heard of glary utilities
where can i get it from n is it as easy to use as tune up utilities ?
    many thanx

You can use the uninstall module - it just runs the uninstall function that came with the program you are uninstalling - same as Windows does.

The links are here in blue - just click on them:

    Glary Utilities

    CCleaner - Home

If you really want to use a registry cleaner - the registry clean module in Glary is safer - don't use the registry defragger module - there are no free registry defraggers that work properly on 7 yet.

The programs are very easy to use.

Just click the module you want to use ( I have the Pro version - the free version is very similar):

There's also Auglogics Registry Defrag and it works with my current Win 7 beta 7000. Am downloading Win 7 RC 7100 as I write this.

Oh! They no longer offer Registry Defrag for free! Oh well, I have the old free version 4.1

You may find it at softpedia or majorgeeks!

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!
