Trouble installing iTunes 9 on brand new laptop running Windows 7

    After you downloaded the 64 bit version of the Itunes installer we will begin the install process.

    Before we begin


    Ensure that the following conditions exist before we begin the install process:
    1. Disconnect from your system your Ipod/Iphone
    2. MAke sure you have your Itunes Account info handy
    3. Make sure your laptop is online.
    4. Do not have any Itunes libraries imported to the new laptop.

    Run as Admin


    After sucessfully installing the Itunes installer to your desktop you are ready to install Itunes 64 bit version. Perform the following:

    1. In the attached screenshot direct your mouse/pointer over the Itunes program.
    2. With your mouse perform the right click operation.
    3. You will see a small drop down menu.
    4. Point your mouse to the "Run as Administrator" and left click
    5. The installation of Itunes will begin.
    Report back your results.

    The information is included in the "System Specs" tab...maybe you missed it?

    Thanks for the help, it's getting a bit late here but I will be sure to complete all of these steps tomorrow and see what happens. Thank you all for your time, help, and patience :)

    Okay, so I went ahead and downloaded AGAIN & think I solved the problem on my own. After downloading .exe file, running the software, and then beginning the software installation process...I got to the point where it asks: "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?". Because I was being prompted to click "No", I had been selecting "No" during the previous attempts. This time, I selected "Yes" (despite being prompted to click "No" and after the program gave me a run-around I was finally able to complete the installation successfully.

    And by "run-around" I mean it took between 4 and 5 minutes to "install", then said "iTunes Installer Interrupted" and included a message stating that "The installer was interrupted before the requested operations for iTunes could be completed. Your system has not been modified. To complete these operations at a later time, please run the installer again".

    After all of this, I looked in my "Start" menu and saw something that said "Apple Software Update". I clicked on it and it opened a box that generated a list of software updates for Apple. It listed Safari 5 and "iTune + Quicktime" so I selected it and clicked "Install". Then, it FINALLY worked! What a tedious, annoying, and time-consuming process to simply install ONE program! I am not happy with the trouble the installation has caused but I am just thankful that I finally have it successfully installed on my new computer.

    Does anyone know whether this is an issue with iTunes or an issue with Windows 7? I was just curious...

    Neither.... what was causing your issue was you saying No to the UAC prompts. it was a USER error not a Windows error

    Excuse ME, but after having my computer crash the other month I have been especially leary of all the bullsh*t that is out there. Going through that was a MAJOR headache, and one I'd like to avoid encountering again if I can help it! I have a busy life...I am a full-time college student, a mother, and a wife so if I can avoid potentially screwing up a brand new computer I'm going to be cautious! My classes are online, so I NEED to have a working computer.

    So, when a message pops up and PROMTS me to press "No", I am going to press NO! I tried finding more information before selecting "Yes" or "No" but there was nothing available, so instead of taking a chance I selected the choice I was being prompted to click. So, you idiots don't need to try and make me look like just another *idiot*...who were the two telling me to remove any Apple software completely before trying to install again, even after I made it clear the 1st and 2nd times that no iTune software had EVER been installed on this computer.

    And, yes, there are issues with iTunes...even after I got everything installed and plugged in my Touch, I wanted to sync my purchased music onto my computer and it only tranferred 4 of the 29 songs I have purchased THROUGH iTunes on my device. I fixed the problem and it wasn't a USER error either. And please don't try to tell me there have never been any compatability issues with iTunes & Windows 7 because I have read through the forums, too!
