I've looked for a good PowerDesk replacement a few times in the past couple of years but so far have not been able to find anything that works better. FreeCommander came close...perhaps I should have tried the non-Beta version instead.
I also have PowerDesk 8, but I use FreeCommander as my primary file manager because PowerDesk does not support the x64 context menus. I rely on the context menu for access to programs like:

    Notepad++
    AxCrypt
    File Compare
    ZoneAlarm
    MalwareBytes

These do not show up on PowerDesk context menus with Win 7 x64. However, PowerDesk does a better job handling ZIP files and has a much better file viewer.

FreeCommander version 2009.02b is a good stable release. Try using it and not the Beta XE version. Be sure to look at the release notes in the version history to see how to setup for x64 context menus.

Found another one, Microsoft Mathematics 4.0. Great for students or people like me who are just horrible at math.

Poking around some more I found Microsoft ICE (Microsoft Image Composite Editor). A very cool panorama stitching program. Amazing how fast and well it works for a freeware program.

Gimp is already on the list

However I have noticed two of my essential graphics programs are not yet on the list ....

    CAM2PC Free

Cam2PC Free is a light version of a commercial program, which includes the most flexible "downloader" for camera images I have seen, you are able to create file and folder structures from the internal metadata held in the images such as date, time, F stop, ISO etc. It also contains a good basic image management sytem.

    Geosetter

Geosetter is a freeware Geotagging, exif, and metadata editor for images, you can add the location and other information to your images using Google maps, and adjust the standard information that all modern cameras add to the images they take. this is useful for uploading to Flickr and the like.

These are two rather specialist applications but I find them valuable additions to any photographer's toolkit

    Transpose 1.8.0.0

I made a small hotkey program using AutoHotKey to change a few mouse and keyboard hotkeys in programs I use frequently.

    Hotkeys

The main reason I wrote it was to make Control-t transpose the 2 characters left of the caret. The most common typo I make is reversed characters. By hitting Control-t I can fix it on the fly("thsi" after Control-t becomes "this" as I originally intened.) Since I run that in the Task Tray all the time now, I added a few other changes.
I've updated Transpose to 1.8.0.0. I've added Opera 11 to the list of browsers that support copy text to clipboard. I've changed it so that selected text is copied to clipboard just by pressing the back tic key(same physical key as tilde on most US keyboards.) After copying text to the clipboard it sends a mouse click to clear selected text. Make sure the mouse is over an empty spot on the page to avoid clicking on a link.

Latest ahk source code is included. Modify it as you like for your own use.
