For those that, like me, use 7zip but hate how it looks, here's a very handy app that can change both the interface icons and filetype icons on your PC:

    7-Zip Theme Manager

Version 2.1 works perfectly on Win7, but if someone decides to download this for XP, use v2.0 instead (2.1 doesn't seem to work).

    Daum Pot Player x86 (English)

    Daum Pot Player x64 (English)

    More info...

PotPlayer (aka "KMPlayer Reloaded") is an amazing free player from the same developer who made The KMPlayer* (*sold to Pandora.TV and now a shadow of what it was). Features include; resume playback from last position , hide mouse pointer, shutdown computer when completed, use own decoders/filters, powerful A-B repeat, automatic playback of all/similar files in a folder, seamless playback (move from one file to the next seamlessly), capture a screenshot, record the file currently playing, and a serious degree of flexibility for manipulating subtitles. Set window size and position on start (no switching like with VLC). It's highly customizable with loads of skins and with your own background images. Like VLC it comes with internal decoders that are able to play pretty much anything, and has internal DXVA video codecs (H.264/AVC, VC-1, MPEG2) and EVR. I'd recommend this to both novices and advanced users alike. It just works, is very intuitive, and for those with greater demands there's plenty to tweak. Available for Windows XP, Vista and 7(x86 and x64).

Even better than VLC in my humble opinion.

KeyDrive is a Hotkey that sits in the tray for opening drives in Explorer. Instead of making a Hotkey with every drive letter it takes the approach of using 5 Hotkeys for various tasks.

Use the About command in the Tray Menu for Hotkey info.

Just search for the KeyDrive download link on this page:
    Hotkeys

Note that the "Snap" type functions only use the Right Winkey. Normal Windows7 Snap functionality is still available using the Left Winkey.

KeyDrive does not snap open windows. It only opens drives in Explorer and positions the window(s).
Updated to v. 2.0.0.0. Control-down arrow with Explorer window active centers the window and sizes to 60% of desktop work area. What's new is then the mouse drags the window to enlarge a few pixels. At least on W7 this should reset the default Explorer window size.

Massive improvements in this version, very very fast and smooth. The developer has actually managed to remove some of the inherent problems in Explorer. This is now faster than Explorer itself!

If you have not yet tried this you should...........

    QTTabBar 1.5.0.0 Beta 2 Released « QTTabBar

    Regards....Mike Connor
I'm just trying this out today. I'm skeptical of Explorer toolbar addon thingies since the ones I've tried before have been flaky. Been using this for a few hours and it seems solid. The thing I really like is I can set it to pick up all the USB drives in docking stations that are powered up. I like to use multiple Explorer windows for drag & drop and this just makes it possible to do everything a bit easier.

    Nice freeware.

Shawn, the link for "Beep Codes Viewer" on the first page needs to be updated. Here's the blog post with the link to the program, and more; not much explanation for the action, though:
