getting a blank screen with that brian, i posted the major geeks link as they test the softwares before they make them available and some of the comments on the windows club page said that the tweaking .com site was flagged up.
I can't see here puTTY. I hope it's allowed to be posted here.
PuTTY: A Free Telnet/SSH Client
PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Windows and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator.
LEGAL WARNING: Use of PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink is illegal in countries where encryption is outlawed. I believe it is legal to use PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink in England and Wales and in many other countries, but I am not a lawyer and so if in doubt you should seek legal advice before downloading it. You may find this site useful (it's a survey of cryptography laws in many countries) but I can't vouch for its correctness.
Use of the Telnet-only binary (PuTTYtel) is unrestricted by any cryptography laws.

Been using this on my thumbdrive and it is great. The Rohos Mini Drive free version is limited to 2GB, but this is ideal on a 4GB thumbdrive. It only costs $23 to remove the restriction so you could use it on a USB HDD of any size.
There are two major benefits over other locking software:
1. If you have admin rights to the computer, once you enter your Rohos password, all the locked files are available to Windows applictions in File>Open as normal.
2. If you don't have admin rights, say at an Internet Cafe, it has a browser file on the drive that enables you to open your files in a built-in file manager so you can work with them. No traces or temp files are left on the host computer.
I have tried it on several computers (including XP) and it works regardless of what drive letter it gets assigned. You get to choose the drive letter on setup for the hidden, encrypted partition it creates, so I chose "X", since most computers are probably not using it.
I tried many other different USB locking programs, but this one has by far the best features and (if you have admin rights) works as if it isn't even installed.
I created shortcuts on the drive to the two exe files and then set the exe attributes to SH. That way, they are invisible and if someone deletes your shortcuts to be smart, you can simply recreate them by temporarily disabling "hide system files" in Explorer's "Folder Options".
