Since the inception of Vista, MS got rid of the ability to drag to the command prompt window. Here is a free tool that allows you to send your batch file or script to the command by right clicking it. It also allows you send files to just about anywhere; it is more of an enhanced context menu, hope you like it.
    Send To Toys

enhancement of the Send To menu

    Our Rating: (Good!)
Send To Toys is an enhancement of the Send To system menu. Send To Toys Freeware download and review - enhancement of the Send To menu from SnapFiles. It adds a Send To "Command Prompt..." option to the right click menu, which allows you to select a script and copy the file there. In addition, the "Send To Clipboard (as name)" copies the name of the file or files to the clipboard.

Another great free program is TeraCopy. It integrates seamlessly with W. Explorer and takes over Explorer's transfer/copy function with a program that works better and provides more info as it's doing it. There is a paid pro version, but the free version has all the important features and is all anyone really needs. I rank this program in the same league as a program like hash tab in terms of utility and function.

TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user a lot of features:

    • Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.
    • Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.
    • Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer.
    • Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files.
    • Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual.
    • Full Unicode support.
    • Windows 7 x64 support.

Anyone else had this problem with Teracopy? Noticed that if you copy to a drive or disk that has less space than the size of the item your copying, there are no error or warning messages. Teracopy just starts copying as if nothing's wrong and then cuts off abruptly when the disk is full without any warning or beep or whatever, leaving a truncated file. If you weren't watching closely you won't even realise anything was wrong until it's too late.

I think programs that turn out to be problematic or not work well with W7 specifically (either 32 or 64 bit) should be taken off the list again. It won't help to have software that is no good, I can find that anywhere else on my own

Iconoid now lists Windows 7 32 bit as a supported OS.

Link is: Iconoid - Hide and show desktop icons, maketransparent backgrounds

64 bit still has problem as described in a thread I have previously posted.

All I want is a program that allows me to customise the Windows Explorer command bar (like we could with XP) with icons such as Copy, Paste etc.

I was using QT Tabbar to do this in Vista but it does not work properly in Win 7 yet. Hope they update it.

I'm been experimenting with Free Commander and Ultra Explorer as complete replacements for Windows Explorer but I'd prefer something that integrates fully with Windows Explorer.
