Thanks for that - Having a look at the two links you give shows both as about the same - but neither come out as a certain answer to the problem they try to solve.
Of course the only real way to be sure is caution and experience - I will leave the Mcafee running but use it as a first check to show obvious bad sites But obviously treat any sites that I don't know personally with caution. It is interesting to see that they sometimes rate a site differently - one will say green, the other will say its a yellow one. Another interesting facet is that WoT will put up a warning and prevent you from going to bad sites until you click an acknowledgment while McAfee will warn you, then let you go to yellow sites, but requires an acknowledgment for any downloads. Bottom line - two are probably a bit of overkill, so pick one based on the features you like and go with it. (But do pick something that rates sites.) |

LinkExtend is another option which uses result from SiteAdvisor and WoT, along with a host of other similar services.

COMODO Free Backup
Yet another disk backup program, this one from Comodo, the firewall/antivirus company. From the site:
Quote:
•Comodo BackUp includes a variety of backups such as disk and partition backup, files and folders, entire registry and custom registry keys, user settings, messenger, mail accounts and system state backup;
•With its Windows Explorer integration it can do backups and restores with a simple click; •Multiple mail clients supported such as Eudora, Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Windows Live Mail and Outlook Express; •Multiple messenger clients supported such as Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Skype and Pidgin; •Comodo BackUp can perform scheduled backups that run automatically at a suitable timetable including 'synchronization mode' backups that run silently; •Scheduled backup names can be set with different macros such as date stamp, time stamp and revision number stamp; •Backups can be compressed and encrypted with a variety of encryption algorithms; •You can store the backups on your local machine, network or on a ftp server; •Built-in integrity verifier for backup files. Couple of notes - it puts a trailing "\" on the selected destination which you need to remove or follow with a new directory name, and from the forum posts it may have some problem backing up unattended to an FTP site. Google Chrome and My Dropbox
I’ve previously suggested Google’s Chrome, a great browser that lets you search Google from the address bar, available Google Chrome - Download a new browserhere.
Also, I have found Dropbox to be a great way to keep files and folders synched across several different computers. The 2 gb directory option is free at here. |
