Fiddler is a Web Debugging Proxy which logs all HTTP(S) traffic between your computer and the Internet. Fiddler allows you to inspect traffic, set breakpoints, and "fiddle" with incoming or outgoing data. Fiddler includes a powerful event-based scripting subsystem, and can be extended using any .NET language.
Fiddler is freeware and can debug traffic from virtually any application that supports a proxy, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and thousands more. You can also debug traffic from popular devices like Windows Phone, iPod/iPad, and others.

    Download Fidler 2

    Delayed Cuts 1.0.0.4

Delayed Cuts 1.0.0.4 Delayed Cuts is a simple ListView utility for creating a list of shortcuts to be run delayed at logon. Shortcuts are added via drag and drop. The delay range is 10 to 600 seconds. All delays are timed from the launch of DelayedLoad.exe which runs the shortcuts. When you create a list, a shortcut to DelayedLoad is created in the StartUp Folder if it doesn't already exist.

I designed this utility to only accept shortcuts because that ensures you may pass all needed information to the launching program, such as command line arguments, working directory, start minimized etc..

The shortcuts are simply launched in a loop using ShellExecute() system call.

By default the "Toast" splash screen slides up near the system tray to show a countdown, icon and shortcut name next in line to load. The Toast feature is enabled by default. It may be disabled via .ini file option. UseToast=True or UseToast=1 enables. Any other value disables it. If Toast is disabled, the info is shown in the Tray Icon Tooltip during mouse hover.

DelayedLoad.ini is created in the same folder as DelayedLoad.exe the first time DelayedLoad closes.

One advantage to delay loading via an app that has a visible Tray Icon, you can cancel the loading of the remaining programs just by quitting DelayedLoad via the tray icon menu.

It should run on XP and later. Tested on English language Windows only.

edit: v. 1.1.0.0 Added Tray Menu command to Skip Next Load.

Here's a screen shot of the ListView component where you add shortcuts:

    MilesAhead,

Interesting. It sounds a little like something that I used to do via a batch file. I understand that one can delay the commencement of the entire list, but can one adjust the interval between the start of each item in the list to prevent an overload of programs starting at one time?

Did it help? I used a similar program once but it did not make any difference. In fact it made matters worse.

The only way you'd get an overload of programs starting at one time is if you put a bunch of shortcuts in the list with the same delay. Like 10 seconds, 10 seconds etc.. Space them out however you want. That's the idea. (Of course if you have a bunch of different delay utilities running at once I have no way to know that.)

Each item has its own delay counted from the start of the launcher program. After items are in the list you can edit the individual delays by clicking on the Delay column for that item and pressing F2. So the entire valid span of delays is in the range 10 seconds to 10 minutes. More than 10 minutes it seems like you might be better off to use a task scheduler type app.

Add a few shortcuts, then double click DelayedLoad.exe to test without having to log off. You'll get the idea.

edit: btw, don't use shortcuts that are already in the StartUp folder. Drag them from some neutral location. Otherwise they'll try to start twice. The only shortcut in the StartUp folder that Delayed Cuts uses is one it puts there for the DelayedLoad app. It does not remove shortcuts from the StartUp like some other utilities such as WinPatrol delayed start. It's quite simple. Should be pretty much fool proof unless you mess with the list data file yourself or delete shortcuts after they've been added.

edit2: please download new version 1.0.0.5 I added a splash delay to reduce flicker. Also fixed a bug where ini file was not always written on exit.

edit3: v. 1.0.0.8 has more options for Toast Splash screen. It can be moved away from the system tray to avoid overlap if another program is using the Toast display at the same time. See DelayedCuts.exe About Dialog for settings.

another edit: v. 1.1.0.0 Added a menu command Skip Next Load to skip over the next app.

This is a great thread. I have found some really useful tools like macrium's reflect from here. Some of the tools however, seem a bit outdated like Miranda IM. Who uses ICQ these days :). A few years back, I would have added Trillian by Corelean studios to the list too (similar multi IM platform). Cheers

"Beep Codes Viewer" can't be found on Rizonesoft.
Also I tried DAZ Studio and for anything useful one has to buy an "addon pack" of tools.
