    DriveAlive 1.01

I wrote a small AutoIt3 program called DriveAlive to keep external drives and docking stations from spinning the drives down due to idle time-out.

You can see detail about it on this link:

    DriveAlive 1.01 - DonationCoder.com

Edit: Updated to v. 1.1 - I got rid of the error dialog if you try to run a 2nd copy. The 2nd copy just quits without complaining now.

You can download it from this page on my site:

Puran Defrag installs ask.com toolbar, and changed my homepage to ask.com as well.
I installed Puran Defrag a couple of hours ago and I saw no ask.com options during the process.
I checked IE8 and Firefox and both browsers have nothing there. I installed the free version btw. I hit the homepage to dl it and the free version link redirects you to download.com.
Here are the 6 install option screens...

Glad if it's useful to you. Nice to see other people using my utilities. :)

edit: btw I reimplemented it in AutoHotKey. In v. 1.2 you don't have to kill the copy in the Tray to use different params. Running a 2nd copy replaces the one in the Tray automatically. Also now the dummy file is created if it doesn't exist, deleted if it does, and is cleaned off on program exit. So don't be concerned if you notice it has disappeared while the app is still running.

(Due to using AHK the memory footprint is a bit smaller also.)

The latest is up on my site. Softpedia should update in a day or 2.

    PromptHere 1.0

PromptHere is a variation on the old Command Prompt Here utility.

Rather than use a Registry entry I coded it as a Tray Hotkey.
No install. Unzip exe and readme to an empty folder.
It creates no Registry entries, .ini files, or any additional files.

Usage: Run in Tray. Alt Middle Mouse Click opens a prompt for
folder(s) selected in Explorer. Each prompt has the respective
selected folder as the current directory.

It is free for you to use at your own risk. Available right now
    from my hotkeys page:

Note if you are using Selector, FolderCache or ReOpen utilities I've written, I've fixed a bug introduced in the previous update where running a second instance of the program would cause it to zero out the data file(s) as it exited.

Please update to the latest on my hotkeys page.
    Sorry for any inconvenience.

The latest AutoIt3 version made changes in the automatic function
call system as programs exit. I made a logical error in all three of
these utilities when I updated and recompiled with the latest AutoIt3.
All 3 should work as expected now.

You can download the latest from this page:

    Hotkeys

edit: you can use the About command in the Tray Menu of any of the 3 utilities to get the file version. You can compare to the history to make sure you have the fixed versions on your PC. Here's the link to the changes for those apps:

    Hey folks,

Haven't seen this mentioned on here yet, but a great Sync tool that's completely free is JFileSync. It can be a little complex to set up, but not too hard. I use it to sync files and directories between my Win7 64-bit desktop and my WinXP Home 32-bit netbook, works BRILLIANTLY. You can also use it on Linux or Mac OS so you can even sync between different computers with different OSes (although I only have experience with the Windows version).

I often use it in conjunction with Hamachi2, so no matter where I am, I can even sync my files when my two computers are nowhere near each other as long as they both have internet connections. Makes back-ups great on long trips. (Make sure you up the timeout for the JFS server though, as the default is only 5 seconds!)

    Cheers, and enjoy!
