    7127 x64 & Java - Problems

    Clean install of B7127

Before I even started, I researched here and elsewhere to see if there were problems with Java and x64. In addition to a couple of blogs/articles, I found these three threads:
I tried it all - as best I could.

The problem: When I install any Java (downloaded Java from java.com and did an off-line install) and reboot (D'oh), I loose all internet connectivity. Thunderbird is unable to get out. IE8 fails to get out. The one time I was able to perform a restore roll-back, to a point before the Java install, it all came back.

I attempted to make the recommended adjustment in the Java console - no joy there as that option was grayed out.

It's not the end of the world if I don't get this working, but it sure would be nice :)

Any help that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.

So, I worked it and worked it (BTW, the Windows Backup and Restore feature is a real time saver for this sort of thing) and I finally got it.

    What I did:
    1. Got to Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
    2. Download both the 32-bit and 64-bit files
    3. Execute the 32-bit (skip the MSN toolbar)
    4. Execute the 64-bit
    5. Now, reboot the computer
Upon reboot, starting up the Java the first time took about 5 - 10 seconds, then all was sweet.
