Windows Explorer keeps refreshing..and lagging :[

I just got into this since my damn Dell from 2004 toasted. Totally feels great.

I have a problem as I have this folder with a lot of .mp3 and it just keeps randomly refreshing. It takes ages to double click, it freezes up, I cannot understand why it keeps refreshing over & over.

I've moved up to just a 2 gigger..of RAM, nothin' beastly, but this is still extremely aggravating..never happened back on my XP SP2 tho I've tried googling and reports are that has happened on whatever ? Please let me know..

Hello !! Welcome to SF !!

What is the default program set to open those MP3 files ?? Remove that location from Search Index Index Locations - Add or Remove also i would recommend Disk Defragmenter Disk Defragmenter - Open and Use and those file avoid making them Thumb nails make them small icons that would save time refreshing Thumbnail Previews - Enable or Disable !!

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Winamp. I think it has to do with all the CBBD info, man. Or whatever it's called those IDE tags. Thanks much..will report

EDIT: Indexing didn't stop it. Jesus this has a load of views already. Please helppp..I sure hope the defragment comes thru..? I've only had this for half a week yet it analyzed 16% of my 320 gig hard drive..

ID3 tags should not be an issue. Just to see if its something to do with winamp, try setting windows media player back to the default for mp3 files. On the start menu click "default programs" then go to windows media player and set it as default for all the file types it supports. Reboot, and try accessing the folder again.
