This version seemed to install the ask toolbar without even asking me this time, unless I missed the option spot, so beware.

Thanks for the heads up. :)

Also I got the toolbar too, and I know I unchecked it when I installed.

One way around it is to download the zip version instead of the exe or msi versions, as the zip version doesn't need to be installed. With the zip version just download and unzip, place the unzipped exe wherever you want and run it once, then it will work anytime you open a PDF.

If they're going to start forcefully installing it without consent then I'll just look for an alternative, zip or not.

OK just installed it on my second computer and it appears you and I both fail at reading comprehension. here is the windows about the toolbar,

which they have changed from the last version. They removed the check box for the toolbar completely and made it the Accept and Decline buttons at the bottom. Clicking on Decline continues the install, with Accept installing the toolbar. I'm guess you did the same thing I did without catching it and clicked on Accept.

So it isn't that they are force installing it, just changed how to not install it.

You're right. I unchecked the boxes, but failed to read the accept/decline part. Guess I need to slow down on my installation speed.

But nice tricky change foxit. Got us, will get a lot others.

Thanks guys for the heads up on getting around the ASK toolbar. I hate toolbars.....but I love Fox IT PDF reader as an alternative to Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Here is link to 3 security fixes. Some of this was included in earlier versions. I think this is the same problem Adobe just fixed.

If I didn't already have Adobe Acrobat, I would definitely try out this new runner up.
Nitro PDF Reader — The PDF Reader, Reimagined It's free and can perform tasks that that previously only applications such as Acrobat or Nuance PDF Create would do.
