GnuPG plugin for Outlook 2010 on Win7

    Hello guys!.
I am starting to think strongly in encrypting my email. I am already encrypting data using true crypt. Now it is time for mail for me and my correspondents.

I am using Outlook 2010 (32 bit) on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I would like to use GnuPG for encryption. The problem is that I need a plugin that works with Outlook 2010

    Any Ideas ?

    Outlook 2010 GPG Plugin Needed!

Gpg4win - Download Gpg4win works with Office 2007, but sadly NOT with Outlook 2010! GPG claims they do NOT plan to provide support for Outlook 2010 too!

Obviously, Microsoft hasn't wanted to provide "open source code" in their proprietary program. Despite S/MIME being included since Windows 95 in Outlook Express.

There is however another solution, PGP, but that isn't FREE and it's also a proprietary program.

If anyone wants to use the S/MIME, it encrypts both the message body and attachments, without the need of later viewing as plain text, you can generate your own certificates (public and private keys) and share your certificate authority as a p7b (so your private key isn't given away) to authenticate your user certificate by using the following free open source solution here; SimpleCA

Now I know how PGP keeps making money even though OpenPGP and GPG are widely used and widely available alternatives. No one else has figured out (or bothered to figure out) how to seamlessly integrate with Outlook.

Some good news, Cumps Consulting » Blog David Cumps has release the source code of his binary that works in Outlook 2007 under Windows XP, should anyone want to compile it for Outlook 2010 for W7?

https://github.com/twalrant/OutlookGnuPG Philippe Teuwen and Thierry Walrant have taken it upon themselves to improve the code, but still NO support for W7 using Outlook 2010 as yet!

MailCloak for Mail Clients - GPG Email Encryption for Outlook, Outlook Express, OE,Thunderbird and other Email Clients MailCloak (freeware) works on Outlook 2007.

Re: Outlook 2010 GPG Plugin Needed!

Sorry for the late reply, but I just found a new plugin for Outlook 2010.

It is called gpg4o (http://www.gpg4o.com) and it integrates seamless in Outlook.

Compared to the overloaded PGP desktop it really easy to use.

The only tradeoff is: it is not free - but you can download a full working trial.

    Best regards

    Outlook 2010 Privacy Plugin

This is an open source Outlook 2010 plugin available. It's a port of an older plugin for Outlook 2007 with a number of improvements.

Yes it exists. Before spending money I also gave it a try. But
    - no automatic key selection
    - no support for HTML
    - no German Umlauts
    - ....

The gpg4o license was worth the money
