Ralinks RT7X on my computer without install..

What is this used for and how the heck did it get there?
I don't use a wireless connection - don't want one- don't need one. Dont' need the hackers that come with one.

Did this come as a bonus with download of WOW?
because thats the only thing I have installed !!
I am deleting crap like crazy (ie: Land of legions or something like that - which I don't play and wouldn't)... there are no other ppl in this house. I have to leave my puter up and on or my phone won't work when its off.

Ok so unless Magic Jack installed this program I dont' want it ! I don't even want it if Magic Jack is the reason its there - I`ll delete the VOIP before I will let a wireless connection run on my puter. ANY help appreciated !!
I really dislike Vista - I haven't been this disatisfied with a computer ever before in 47 yrs - but Mac is starting to look good to me right now !!

    Uninstall what?
I know how to uninstall this program I want to know what its made for and WHY it ended up on my OS !
I have had puters in my home (and actively used them with Martin Marietta) since the 60`s so why is a wireless card installed on my puter.
Go to My computer>find proggy> click uninstall <------- its gone

    WHATS IT FOR??????????
I have NO wireless connection needed in my home ! I only have my desktop and like it that way - those who are directing me to cleaners that install malware on my puter are SO appreciated (not)

Hello Tishae, welcome to Seven Forums!

If something just 'appeared' on your PC then it may be a good idea to do a virus scan, at the link below download and install the free version of Malwarebytes, then run a full scan of the complete PC, if it turns up anything run it several times until it comes clean.

I own Malwarebytes and AVG. I uninstalled the latter due to it not picking up *anything* and I mean nothing - not even cookies. Which was abnormal for AVG. I ran a Kapersky scan on it which said I had a trojan - then installed Ca Suite which found the trojan but showed nothing on their quarentine list.

Ok - then I called my computer tech and he said "take off Ca Suite - its rubbish and I will be out Wed nighte" so I installed McAfee`s Total Protection 2010 with their Identify theft - to which my puter tech replied "its bad for the computer to have so many AV programs put on & off - wait til I get there wed night"

All I know is - my puter was FINE until my 13 yr old gfs son installed "Legends of Legions" or something to that affect - I took it off and have had nothing but issues since then. Finding a "harware removal" icon appear on boot up on my desktop thru me. Then a peek at my "programs and features" shows I have things I did NOT install on my computer is not making me happy at all. I just don't want to uninstall something that my ISP needs (altho they have been told to disable any remote ports to my computer). Finding RALink RTX Wireless Router and LAN Card on my computer when its NOT installed was stunning ! I looked minutes ago and as of this minute.......its not showing on Programs and features but now my drivers are starting to show up in Programs and Features *sighs*

An Update - I deleted the program - noticed Defender would not turn on ~ so I > opened services> forced Windows Defender to run and update > took off the Majic Jack from computer> ran both Malwarebytes and McAfee *again* (came up with nothing but tracking cookies) > rebooted - computer seems to run fine now.
As I have no need for a wireless card (no laptops in house) I *still* have no idea where the program came from but the problem seems fine (for now). I had previously stopped Windows Update as it shut down my computer after an install of updates and MS`s answer was "it seems to us that Windows Update was misconfigured at the manufacturers" (Really?? How surprising - since upon purchase it had a bad motherboard> bad HD> bad CPU > and the Sr tech said "the only thing that worked on your computer when purchased was the CPU fan and the case"!!! (this after it going to the shop 3 times and MS refusing to give me my funds back unless it "went to the shop 3 times" - which voided the warranty of a year to 6 weeks !!
Now ~ tell me why I should be in "love" with MS? Because I forget !!
Sorry to vent but for ME to have to do all this is ridiculous on a computer built a year and 1/2 ago with *this* many issues. Thanks for all the input - perhaps it isn't MS as much as HP !!!!!!
