    PDF Readers and Browsers


    There are several [free] PDF readers available, but some of them don't support viewing PDFs in your browser. For instance, I know Sumatra PDF doesn't have this feature. Does anyone know which free PDF readers support viewing PDFs in Firefox? What about Opera? Is there a difference between 32-bit readers and 64-bit readers when it comes to browser plugins?

    Also, someone told me that viewing PDFs in the browser is less secure than actually saving the file and then opening it. I have a hard time believing this, because isn't the PDF downloaded to your computer anyway when you open it in your browser?

    I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but with Nitro coming out with their free PDF reader, and Foxit doing some sneaky shenanigans with theirs, I'm beginning to look at other options. (I currently use Foxit Reader.)

    PDF-XChange Viewer is another one that lets you view in the browser. I started using it instead of foxit.

    I never knew that there were many options besides Adobe Acrobat Reader, which supports viewing PDFs in your browser BTW.

    I know that Adobe Reader support in-browser viewing, but it requires a lot of disk space to install. I'd like a lighter option that does that, so I might look into PDF-XChange. Does anyone know if Nitro Reader supports (or will support) viewing PDFs in the browser?

    I still have Adobe loaded but I am planning on dumping it for various reasons. An open reader in your browser can permit mal code execution.
