Thanks...but I must be blind. I didn't see it on the Sony site that you linked to. Can you upgrade from the x86 version to x64 and does your x86 key work?
EDIT: I see now. You're referring to the PRO version. I was looking for an x64 build for Movie Studio.
Does the x64 Pro version perform better or any other comments?
Do you think the Pro version is worth the extra money.

I can't speak with regard to Movie Studio. I've used Vegas since early v5 and have always loved it, it's very powerful and now, with x64, it takes advantage of multi-core systems with enhanced architecture and of course, additional ram. The plugins work the same and the addition of some new effects make it invaluable to me, and again, I love how fast it renders completed high end projects.
Unless you have a genuine need for Vegas Pro, you're probably well-suited with the Movie Maker package. As for an upgrade, it's not likely but I would certainly contact SONY and explain to them what your needs are. I'm guessing they will be more than happy to upgrade you to Vegas Pro at a discounted rate. Try it.
I'm only a video hobbyist, but the faster rendering speed alone is making me wanting the Pro x64 version. I've got a Core I7 quad core processor which Vegas should use to good advantage.
I'm afraid to D/L a trial version cause...well you know what'll happen.

From reading 5 pages of posts on the install problem, it looks like the problems are on PCs where the Windows 7 RC has been installed OVER the old OS with out formatting the C:\ drive first. Put a new OS over and old one and you are asking for trouble. You wind up with bad information left in the registry that causes conflicts, and there are probably lots of .dlls and .exes in the Windows folder that cause compatibility problems when applications try to use the wrong dll.
The only answer is to always do a clean install of an OS. I know it's a pain to have to backup all the data and re-install the applications - but it is the only sure way to avoid these problems of apps not wanting to install (or run properly).

Unless you mean going from a different OS (like XP or Vista) then i dissagree.
You say its the only way to avoid these problems but im sure lots of people don't have them.
Ive gone from 7077 (clean install) - 7100 - RC1- 7127 all as upgrades from 7077 and i don't have this problem.
I do think a clean install will help in this case and agree with the points you make about the OS ending up with different versions of .dlls etc but lets be realistic. If it works for other people then that proves you don't HAVE to do a clean Install, just that its advisable.

I don't disagree with Hal, but in this case, for me doing an upgrade, didn't affect anything that I have seen yet. I upgraded from RC1 to 7127. However, RC1 was a clean install. So what Fliplip says was applicable to me.
I think the difference is probably the numerous combinations of hardware and software that are possible and how they interract. So for those who tend to have compatibility issues, probably need to do clean installs everytime.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and I'm having problems with Vegas 9 Pro. Any video I render will jitter on playback (quite a lot).
I tried on another Win7 machine, this time 32bits, and got the same result.
I tried starting with a wmv and h264 source, same result. Tried to export to different formats, and although an avi ntsc had less jitters, it was still very much there.
I tried installing codec packs, no luck
I played the videos with media player classic, VLC and the built in WMP. Same result
I tried installing Vegas 7, but this produces the same result.
any idea what can cause this?
