    Headset

I've had this head set for a while. It a Sound Blaster Arena Surround headset. Normally I have no problem switching between my main soundcard and my usb soundcard (headset).

After restarting earlier today i am not able to switch the default audio device. Certain programs only use the default sound device to emit sound.

Is there something that im doing wrong, i goto my sound devices, click on my head set, then use as default. When i hit ok and go back to that window it says my speakers are back to the default device. When i select my headset the apply button doesn't enable.

    Whats wrong?

Go to the Control Panel then click on Sound. You should see the Realtek HD Audio Manager icon there. Click on that. When it loads up, double click on the two jack images below "Analogue" and you'll get a choice of headphone or line out.
See if this resolves your issue!

I do not have a "Realtek HD Audio Manager" icon in my control panel. And the headset is a USB headset.

Are all you drivers up to date?
Look in Device Manager for yellow shield signs. If so up date from manufactures website.

So your head set you plug in with a usb connection not a jack plug...Correct?
And it works on another computer correct?
Fill in your system specs so we can get a better handle of what it is we are dealing with.

    1. Have you been able to set the headset as default before?
    2. Are you sure the HD Audio Sound/SB Arena Surround Headset driver's are up to date FROM the Manufactures site?
You will have to forgive me as I have not seen headsets connected by usb only.
