I am currently enjoying creating music with FL9 on my new win 7 premhome computer.
The problem I am having is that when I use the front audio jack for earphones, I get no response. The speakers at the back that are pluged in contine to give sound and do ont mute.
Has anyone got a fix for this small probem?
It'd be good to hear any ideas,

Have you tested the headphones. Do they work if plugged in to the back speaker socket? If they do plug the speakers into the front socket to see if the socket is OK. Process of elimination!

I have checked the headphones and they work at the back jack but not in the front. This holds true whether I leave the jack at the back free or not.
This is a great forum by the way.
I've never seen so much stuff catalogued as well as this before.

First, open the case and make sure the front jacks are physically connected.
The front jack goes to one of two places on the motherboard. AC97 or HD audio. make sure it is plugged in securely. This would be my first check. Has it ever worked?
Thorson is spot on - I will add to the info to say the computer case normally comes with a lead to the front & terminates with two connectors - make sure it is connected to the correct 'HD' header/socket on your motherboard.
In your case prob 'HD audio' connector should be connected to same on motherboard.
Another thing to look at is in 'sounds' > 'speaker configuration'
- depending on your 5.1/7.1 6channel/4channel etc setup it can swap front and back connections to output/input different channels - thus maybe cutting off front headphone connection.
You might take a look at playback devices.
First, plug your headphones in the front (blue) jack.
Next, right Click the Microsoft Speaker Icon in the taskbar, select playback devices. You should see "Speakers" with a green "default" check mark. Is there a listing for headphones? If so... select headphones then click on the Set Default button.
If not that... it's possible you don't have the level up on the front output jack.
Is this a factory put together machine... if so the internal wiring should be connected, but who knows.

It is a factory made machine which I've had about a month.
I've tried what I think all the possible 'sound' combinations are, so I don't think it's that. I will go back and try and see if I missed something. All meter levels are up etc.
It could be that the connectors are no9t properly in place. I will give them a check later on this evening to see how things are on the board and front connections. I'll repost after that. Thanks for your advice. :0)
