    No sound, tried everything

    Hello people.

I recently reinstalled my Windows 7, everything went smooth, but today, out of nowhere, the sound stopped working. The icon is there, fine, the sound card is installed fine, the drivers are ok, the same from before, latest one.

    But no sound at all.

I think I already tried everything that I could find here at the forum, the only thing I was unable to do was that:

    No audio
    Go to control panel

    2. Double-Click on the Sound Icon

    3. Single-click the Speakers to highlight them

    4. Click on Properties (bottom right corner)

    5. Go to the Enhancements Tab and Click on it

    6. Now click "Disable All Sound Effects"

    7. Click OK and you should be good to go!
This apparently works for everybody, but I don't have the "Enhancements Tab".

My sound card is a Audigy Creative 2 value, I'm using the latest driver from DanielK (3.8), used them on my last Windows 7 installation no problem at all.

I don't think that is driver related. When I try to test the sound it appears the error message: "Failed to play test tone"

The only thing that I can do and ear something from the speakers is when I disable the service and enable it again, I can hear a scratch, like turning it on and off.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    This Microsoft thread

In Windows 7 No sound in WMP, WMC and games but I have Windows sound.

Has a lot of fix for it, including users access. I tried every single one of them. Still no sound, same error, same thing.

I really don't want to reinstall windows, I did that yesterday

This is getting interesting, oh my...

I went to my BIOS and enabled my 'on board audio', it's one AC97. The system started, Windows installed the default drivers, everything went smooth.

But, I got the same error, no sound and "Failed to play test tone"

One surprise for me, this soundcard has the "Enhancements Tab", so I went and checked the "Disable All Sound Effects" , but no luck. Same error. Nothing working.

I really don't think it's hardware related. I think it's one Windows error. I really don't know what it can be, I will spend all my Sunday searching for one fix and let you all know. Hope that somebody here can helpme.

    Thanks.
