Windows 7: Win7 Audio Dampening

Win7 Audio Dampening

I have not been able to solve this issue. It works fine in XP and it seems to be across all hardware.

While listening in MP3's in WMP or any other player, if I go and play a game (CSS) while firing in the game, there is a small split second where the in game sound dampens the MP3's.

I have tested this on a few computers now and can confirm it seems to be a issue with windows 7. Is there any way around it?

Right click on the Microsoft speaker icon in the system tray, select "Playback Devices". Select the "Communications" tab. Select... "Do Nothing".
Not sure if this requires a reboot, I don't think so.

The other possibility:
Right click on the Microsoft speaker icon in the system tray, select "Playback Devices". Single left click the default output device (green check mark, usually Speakers). At the bottom right select "Properties". Go to the Enhancements tab. Scroll down until you see "Loudness Equalization" uncheck, may require reboot.

Yeah, this is definitely set to do nothing.

My soundcard has that already disabled by default.

I have since asked some others to test it, and it seems universal. The Win7 sound system is bad???? Can anyone here test as well? Maybe there is some workaround for this issue?
