No sound with 4GB memory on the laptop

I have an Compaq CQ40 Laptop and today I changed the memory from 1GB to 4GB but after upgrade I do not have sound at all even if the hardware is ok and fully functionally. I took one af the sticks and put the old 1GB stick and is working Now the problem is when I put both 4gb i do not have sound but with 3 GB I have. It is anything what I can do to make the Windows 7 64-bit to have sound with 4GB memory?

    Thank you!!

Are the memory sticks the same brand and matching?
While no sound with 4 Gb installed, what does device manager show for the sound, any yellow marks next to it? Have you tried reinstalling the sound driver?

Welcome to the forums.. pretty apt question for a first post.... but it's not really necessary to match brands of memory, so long as they both have the same clock speed and within manufacturers' specs,

wtg and now that it's done, we'd be very irresponsible not to warn you about upgrading bios.. one wrong move, like a loss of power or a system freeze and your system becomes an expensive doorstop.
