Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit external - dead subwoofer

    Hi,

I have Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit external. I've installed Win7 beta drivers from creative. com (1.01.0092). But no sound is comming form subwoofer. When I open creative audio control panel I don't have bass redirection tab, like in WinXP. Did anyone have the same problem?
    Thanks

    I have the same problems

I also do not have any sound from my subwoofer when I play normal music. When I'm watching TV and the station supports 5.1 sound then all is ok. It's only stereo musik where it does not work.

    Any ideas?

hi guys and welcome to sevenforums,

i haven't got a soundblaster, but an x-fi, so the advice below may be useless to you!

try downloading the 'creative console launcher' instead - it's very much like the audio control panel, but prettier and has a few more comtrols in it - you can find it somewhere on the creative site, in the downloads section. that has an 'enable bass redirection', crossover frequency and subwoofer gain buttons (and a decent eq too).

make sure you also have 5.1 selected in the windows sound control panel too...

and bitbauer, do you use CMSS-3D? set it to stereo surround, and that should wake up your woofer, and rear speakers too, if you play with the stereo envelopment slider.

as i said above, all this would work for an x-fi, not sure about soundblaster live...

    Thank you for your reply!

I don't think the 'Creative Console Launcher' will work with the SB Live card. But perhaps I've found another unsupported way. I've found the Soundblaster Live! Series Support Pack 1.5 for Windows 7. I am going to give it a try this evening.

Sorry switched back to Windows XP...

...untill there ist support for the SB24 Live Card in Windows 7. Windows 7 works ok and the speed is also ok but on my MediaCenter (Pentium M 1,7 Ghz) Windows-XP ist still faster. And DVBViewer suits me better although the support for my HTPC was excellent under Windows 7. I'll give it a try again in a few month perhaps...

On external it didn't worked, I hope Creative will launch a driver soon

I've installed the Vista drivers from the CD in compatibility mode, and now only the two front speakers work, great, I can't even uninstall them...

Edit: I have just played Combat Arms and there the subwoofer works fine, I'm confused.

I have a Sound Blaster Live ! 24-bit (internal) bouth in 2004 and when I tryed to install the drivers from the cd W7 told me that there is no SB hardware detected. I installed the W7 drives from Creative and I got the famous problem with the dead subwoffer (5.1)... So after about 3 weeks of searching solutions I finnaly nailed it !
I installed W7 like normal and deactivated the "automatic update" because it always updated the audio card ...... so after that I uninstalled the driver from device manager, inserted the cd and installed the drivers and control panel like on XP. Done ! The sound is the same and it works with XP drivers o.O

    I Found a solution

After reading the previous post, I've deactivated Windows Auto-Update, uninstalled the Sound Blaster drivers (SB24 Live!) from Device Manager and installed the old drivers from 2004 manually, hitting the have disk button and then installing using setup.exe from the disc itself.. and.. it worked !!!
