    Distorted sound

At first I thought it was only when I watch online videos that my sound is distorted as well as the video was very choppy.. I installed some codec and it seemed to go away.. however now I try to play music off my computer and the sound is extremely distorted and cant even hear anything and all i hear is squeaky sounds.

Anything I should do to fix this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

No system specs were entered, we can only guess or give general suggestions without that.

There is a specific place in the USER CP to enter your system specs. But, what you listed helps. Is this a desktop or laptop? and is it a name brand or a home built system?

Is the audio bad on speakers only? or is it also bad with headset? If it's only bad with the speakers it would tend to say the speakers are the problem and in this case plug the headset into the rear GREEN speaker jack and see if it's distorted with the headset.

If it's not the speakers, the first thing is to reinstall the RealTek drivers. Go to the PC vendor or the motherboard vendor and get the latest RealTek drivers and install them.

its both video and sound.. SOMETIMES tho.. its a laptop that im using and the sound is distorted through the speakers as well as through headphones.

how would i reinstall the drivers.. I went to my device manager and uninstalled and installed the sound driver... but nothing has been changed.. it still sometimes distorts the sound/videos

Intermittents are hard to pin down. When you boot up your Laptop, do not run other problems such as Internet Browser, e-mail, etc. Then play a commercial audio CD and see if it distorts with that.
