Flash video much louder than media player

I couldn't find anything covering this.

The playback volume fir videos varies greatly depending on how it is played.
Flash videos played in my browser e.g. YouTube play back much louder than videos played with desktop apps like Media Player Classic or VLC. The difference is so great that I have to set the volume control on flash videos to about 10% of the scale. Even though the flash playback is so much louder it doesn't appear to be distorted.

Is there a way to increase the playback volume of media players, preferred. If not, could I decrease the volume of flash playback so I don't have to constantly jump for the volume when I get my ears blasted by flash output.

    I am using Win 7 x64
SupremeFX II HD Audio (supplied with Asus Maximus II mobo) through 5.1 speakers

I think win7 has multiple volume settings for specific devices/programs etc...

Is there a media output level adjustment in your audio and sound properties?

It's also possible that the "Loudness Equalization" is enabled.

See my second post in this topic.

    Thanks both for replying.

brady, I can't find anything like you mention, where specifically would it be located?

Aphelion. I have adjusted the setting to "Do nothing" and rebooted with no change and there is no "Enhancements" tab in the properties of my default playback device.

Single click the Microsoft speaker icon in the task bar, select Mixer.

Do this when you have a couple of the applications open, say a flash video and VLC or Media Player.

I completely ignored that, for some daft reason I thought it was some sort of graphic equalizer. That's got it now, plugin container for Firefox is the one that adjusts the flash videos.

Thanks both for the help, I can finally click on a video link without expecting my ears to start bleeding.

    P.S. Have some rep.
