    Run Sound using key shortcut

    Hey guys,
An idea came to my mind, and i thought where's a better place to discuss than seven forums?

my Q is that, what is the path for sound application? in the taskbar when you click on sound icon you get the sound window, it should be and .exe file that opens it, i wanna know the path to that exe file.
my purpose is to assign a key shortcut to run that exe file, e.g. alt + s should open the sound window...
    how can i do this?
    thanking you in advance

Many keyboards have shortcut "HOT" buttons built in and can be changed to do other tasks.

I'm not sure the Vaio key board will do this. Click start> Device Manager> Keyboard> Hardware Tab>Properties.
Or look for a "Settings Tab". Your Vaio manual at Sony might also have keyboard settings and explain set up for keys.

Otherwise I'm sure it can be done like you are suggesting but I don't know the steps needed.

Yeah, there's a hot key for doing that, but it opens so SONY application, i want to open the default windows application for managing the sound. anyhow, I've reinstalled a fresh version of windows and i'm not gonna install all those VAIO crap again, they're just useless and memory consuming.

anyways, thanks for your help Mike

I was hoping Windows might give you some options in the Keyboard properties or settings.

Check back someone else may come up with some suggestions.

    Hello Alibahaloo,

These Sounds shortcuts may be able to help. In addition, you could assign a keyboard shortcut to these shortcuts.

    Hope this helps,

Yeah, great... thanks for the link, i found the path:

    Code:
    C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL mmsys.cpl,,0
having this as a shortcut will open the playback devices tap.
