    USB Speaker

Wife has a Gateway n52 laptop with win7 installed. The sound is bad and I want to install a cheap speaker set.She does not listen to music and anything needing great sound but volume and quality as is, happens to be a little to much to bear. Question is can I install a USB speaker system on this? The laptop has no audio line in. Only thing on it is a head jack one for mic and the other for the ear piece. I am thinkig that a usb should just plug in and work? Any help? Thanks in advance..

Should be fine. My laptop speakers are atrocious too. This should do it:

lol Ok thanks parabellum.. I was thinking more in line with my link, just hoping USB will work. Sounds like you know it will and I will risk it. Normally, would not think twice about it. However I am new to Win7 and while I have to say I am leaning to liking it, there do seem to be some strange changes, so I thought i would double check,

It will be fine. I would try and test out some of these speakers before buying though. You don't want USB speakers that sound as bad as your laptop.

If I'm not completely mistaken, Line IN wouldn't work...the speakers would need to go into the headphone jack

If you don't mind the batteries (use rechargeable) but it's getting raves and it's most portable as well.
