Solution for HP Pavilion laptop and cheap BT devices

Holy crappola. You would think that in this day and age something like this should not even be an issue. Unfortunately with the pace of technology and planned obsolescence, no support tech will help with these kinds of issues beyond a few years of age of your hardware.
So it's left to us and gems like sevenforums to aid us flabbergasted and exasperated self-help users.

So after reading numerous sites and posts about several issues (which have been solved by sevenforums on more than one occasion), I've decided to bring my 2 cents to the party.

These issues started for me when purchasing a cheap BT mouse and headset. Now you might say straight away served me right for buying cheap junk, and in some cases you might be right. But mostly it works and I have more cash at the end of the day.

The BT mouse did not work on my laptop (HP Pavilion Dv7-6c50ei) but flawlessly on my smartphone. I've tried a lot including dongles all to no avail. I gave up and resigned to using the mouse on my tablet. A waste. Then I thought I'd be clever and buy some BT headphones for all my devices including the laptop. Same story. Many hours and failed attempts left me with yet another useless device.

After reading all these posts and trying with no luck, and one on some random site I forget, I saw a single post mentioning the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack software. I thought I had tried everything else so thought why not. Even though it is not meant for my HW specifically. I have an Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 adapter with all the correct drivers from Intel directly. The installed HW actually shows as Generic Bluetooth Adapter even with the friggin Intel drivers. So as usual with no hope left I installed the Toshiba package.

...restart.
...wait.
...start the Toshiba SW.
...pair.

OMG.

Few things are more satisfying or soul lifting than seeing something you had given up on actually work. Huzzah! Sweet sounds emanating from the headphones!

After picking up my jaw from the floor and reveling in the sheer joy of glorious music, I had a moment of crazy thinking; What if I try that nice, shiny useless BT mouse I bought a while ago. Naaah. Must be a stroke of luck I got this to work, what are the odds.
I should probably go out and play poker or lottery.
Yes, indeed it worked.

So, with one install I fixed 2 issues that have taken me at least a day altogether of searching, installing, wiping, re-installing, crying, begging, bargaining, cursing and resignation.

Your results may vary. May contain nuts. I tried everything on this thread and others and the last was this package.

Granted, some of the other advice given here may have prepped my system to let this SW work, but I doubt it.

So if you have lost all hope, given your soul to curse the mighty demon microsoft and the HW makers, and still are determined to make your device work, you can try....Toshiba Bluetooth Stack!

Really, with the ability of software to do literally anything we want, we still have to suffer at the hands of the makers of inferior SW. But, then they won't make billions off of us, will they.

Thanks SevenForums and all members still willing to assist an aging OS

<rant ends>

Peace.

Just another working solution

My problem was along these mentioned, my bluetooth speaker actually connected, .................and disconnected again. I spent lot of cups of coffe over this, tried all various broadcomm, Widcomm, toshibas, Intel driver got me stuck in loop of installing 'bluetooth peripheral device over and over. System restore.
Anyway, bought new bluetooth thumb and noticed after all sucesfully installed, when rightclicking upon BT icon, there's 'allow connection' huh? it wasn't there before. And that was the breaking point.

If your device connects, your sounds go mute, it appears to play something and then disconnect in like 15sec, try this:

- turn on BT device
- let BT sacn, discover, and add into your devices and printers,
- notice quick bt icon popup mentioning 'device trying to connect'
- right click BT icon > allow device to connect
- installation wizzard should inform you that device was added succesfully.
- sounds > set default device > Done!

I was sort of stuck part way in the unfinished installation, overlooking the need to actually allow it trough. Time for a victory coffe.

update - BT range too short, curse steel reinforced concrete walls :/ Time for increasing the range with external antenna.

update driver

I had the same problem described in the initial post. it was very frustrating, i gave up many times, then It was solved basically by re-installing the driver.

I have a dell laptop. so I went on dell website the drivers section, I downloaded DellSystemDetect that detects which Dell model I had(latitude). Then I went on "Drivers and downloads"

Then I downloaded the Intel BT driver
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER039...03.630_A12.EXE

I double-clicked on it and then clicked "extract", and launched the "Intel Bluetooth.msi"

Click "repair" then next ... Once the driver installed, restart your computer as it asks you to.

After you restart, pair up you BT headset. then go to "Devices and Printers" double-click on your device and click "Listen to music"

Then right-click on the "Sound" icon to select your headset as the default playback device.

hi everyone, if anyone is having problems with sound on the Bluetooth speaker i think i may have found a solution to the problem. I have a black-web mini Bluetooth speaker and it had no problems and paired to my laptop without any issues, but then when i used Netflix or other movie websites, the audio would play on my default speakers...and after many tries i finally found a way to overcome this problem...i would also like to mention that i cant guarantee to you that this will work but just follow these steps and see if it works...

1) Go to your control panel and click hardware and sound.

2) After clicking hardware and sound, click on manage audio devices.

3) Then what you want to do is, to right click on your default audio device and disable it.

Once you disable it, your speakers may work without any problems...thank you, peace.
