No balance slider?

Okay. In XP I could adjust the audio balance in two clicks.

I have just realized that in Seven it takes me no fewer than five; and then it's *still* not a balance slider, but just individual channel volumes.

Can anyone explain how this is supposed to be an improvement? So many things about Seven are fantastic, but there are these occasional things that just baffle me...

This is not a "Windows 7" issue, it's the sound card vendor's drivers. I have an HT Omega Striker 7.1 sound card and it has full features such as balance, graphic EQ, etc.

Interesting! I will have to follow up on this.

Just to be clear, you're saying you have a balance slider as indicated below?

No, I have a separate control panel for my sound card that includes the balance control. I only have the volume control slider as you show it for the Speaker "icon".

How often do you change the balance...?
Honestly, that just seems obscured to constantly change it.

Almost every day. Frequently one of us will be in another part os the apt, so we'll move one speaker into the hallway and put on music or a TV show or something. Now if I'm doing homework at the same time and my wife is in the kitchen, I don't want to be bothered and I'll adjust the balance over to that speaker and close the door.

Voila!

I realize the difference between 2 and 5 clicks is small, but it's still essentially a 150% increase...
