No Sound, I'm New to Windows 7, Please Help

I just upgraded from Windows Xp to Windows 7 today, and there is completely no sound...When I go to a song on Windows Media Player, I get this message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly". Could this be because I need to go to Windows Update, or is something wrong??? No video will play either....

    Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Please fill out your system specs so we can have a little more information about your computer and what kind of sound device it might have.

Also, when you try to play a video, does it give you the exact same error or a different error?

Go into Control Panel and click on Sound where you can configure your sound or check in Device Manager and look for yellow yield signs which you may have to update your drivers.
