See my comments in the thread near this one entitled "trouble recording from the desktop with Audacity".

Short story: You may solve it easily, with difficulty, or never.

In which case you buy another sound card.
    Just a little help

    Hi Folks:

Well I tried with two different drivers and they didn't work.

So I sent an e-mail to HTOmega and their Striker 7.1 and drivers still has the system mixer (record what u hear) option available for Windows 7. I can also adjust the settings to my two-speaker system.

This new sound card will be a great improvement on my existing one.

Many thanks Fireberd for the recommendation and everyone for their help,

    ^ Can't go wrong with HT|Omega. I have a Claro and it's amazing.

I also have a newer SoundBlaster Xfi but it was causing conflict problems with my Sonar recording studio software. I removed it and installed the Striker 7.1 and that eliminated the conflict problem and the Striker 7.1 has as good (or maybe better) sound than the SoundBlaster.
