    Microphone is being monitored by headphones even when muted


    I just plugged in my new Sennheiser PC360's (2x 3.5mm) and straight off I notice that even with the microphone muted, I can blow into it and hear it through my headphones. Please post all possible solutions.

    Heres what I have done:
    1."listen to this device" is unchecked in the recording tab under microphone
    2. There is no microphone in the playback tab, only headphones


    I would like to use the microphone but not be able to hear myself when I blow or talk into it. Thanks.

    Check your sound card's settings, too, not just the settings Windows has.

    Somewhere there is something set to allow monitoring of the mic.

    Wow, you've got to be kidding me. Windows is amazing at detecting an error and fixing it. A simple restart fixed my mistake. I feel so dumb for not trying that.
