Because of custom implementation by PC Vendors, IDT does not provide drivers on their web site, they direct you to the PC or Motherboard vendor for the drivers. I have an Intel motherboard with SigmaTel integrated audio, when I was using it (I have a separate sound card now) and later an IDT driver update, from Intel, I heard NO DIFFERENCE in sound quality between the drivers. I can be picky about sound as I have a Recording Studio.

If your PC Vendor, and I gather HP from your post, does not have an updated driver usually non HP drivers will either not work or not work correctly.

Yeah, the HP support page doesn't always vend the latest versions. I had to get the updated drivers for the HD audio codec and LAN from Realtek. They both installed fine and are working perfectly on my computer.

edit: the link I used was Realtek

My mother has a laptop that is a compaq. Her sound card is a idt high definition audio codec as well. I tried to find her driver updates also and was unable to do so. But One thing I can help you with is to not expect to jump on here and always have your problem solved in a couple of hours. You must give others time to see your question and answer it. There is many other people on here who have questions also. But I can say that questions almost always get answered and most of the time solved. Just remmber to always give as much info as you can and fill out your system specs to the best of your knowledge. If you need some help with the system specs try using CPU-Z Or my favorite for the most info is PC Wizard. The wizard has a lot more to it so it can be a little morte confusing. But it will have almost everything you will need to fill out system specs. By the same company there name is cpuid by the way. I have used almost all of there programs I have liked them all so far. Here is there link - Cpuid
