    realtek AC'97 drivers not working

I have an HP pavilion zv5000 laptop with the speakers on the front and the audio control buttons on the front and i have tried all the fixes i could find on other threads including: replacing the drivers from realteks website and making sure that the audio device is set to default. My ? is does anyone have any idea if there is another fix for this. I'm using the latest driver from realtek althouh i let windows try and fix it and it reverted back to the previous version. if anyone knows of a driver package that works for sure that would be great.

    Thinkpad R52

Just for everyone's info. If you have an R52 you can go to Lenovo and download the driver for audio here.

Lenovo Support & downloads - Drivers and software - ThinkPad R52

I used the audio driver there (it was the only one there) but it works. Albeit a message pops up about some missing codec. I plan on installing more A/V codecs for the time being.

I'm new here by the way guys :)

    Nice to meet you!

    EDIT:

Just thought I'd post this b/c I'm pretty sure the R52's are run with the 97' Realtecs also.

For audio on zv5000 just install the audio driver in xp2 compatibility mod. Working fine for me, hoever for radeon mobility 9000 igp you can try omega drivers in same xp2 or 3 mod, but 3d isn't enabled. I returned to xp, I chat on hp suport and they sugested some dv laptop drivers that didn't even work.
