I would still look for the vista drivers for this system

No go, states right as soon as I try to install it that it needs Vista and shuts down the install.

I went directly to Asus's site for your exact motherboard and no downloads were listed for Windows 7, let alone Windows vista.

Is this an older computer?

Are you having sound issues and web cam problems as well?

Have you checked the PC manufacturer's site for driver downloads?

It seems alot of people are having some issues with Windows XP SP3 and using Realtek ac'97. Apparently it has caused some issues with sound cards to sto working. Maybe you should install windows 7 on your friends computer? (Just a thought). I might suggest trying to install an older driver, or purchasing a sound card that you can put into the computer (decent ones cost around $10-$50
depending on which one you buy).

Yeah, I didn't realize that this was a forum for Windows 7 as I was oblivious to the fact that there was even a new Windows operating system out there :P that's how uncomputer savey I am really and out of touch with systems these days.

Now I see what you mean about XP being installed:

Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\usbaudio.sys (5.1.2600.5508 (xpsp.080320-1625), 58.63 KB (60,032 bytes), 7/4/2009 4:40 PM)

Didn't catch that at first.

I understand there are lots of these posted here but it's usually (or maybe always) a driver issue, so I believe my specific drivers merit this new thread.
