I found that if i turn up the volume on my speakers a little passes off point i don't hear it .. that is what i have done to fix it so far. With the logic tech X - 240 speakers.. not sure why i can't hear it anymore, but the only time it makes that sound is when i have the volume all the way down or close to all the way down. Hope this helps everyone.

So when you hear the sound, try turning up your speakers more to see if that fixes it. If you don't like how loud they are, turn them down on your computer not the speaker its self.

I appreciate the suggestion, though it's really a workaround for Realtek's- possibly- crappy drivers. (I'm slightly willing to cut them some slack, as I'm using the RC of Windows 7 and the OS isn't officially out yet).

Personally, I prefer to listen through headphones, and mine don't have an independent volume control anyway, so it won't work in my case.

Thanks anyway!

Found a possible solution

I found this thread via google search for "Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P sound". I'm running Vista32, but had the same problem with crackling sound with my new build using the above Gigabyte board. I tried updating drivers and every other suggestion and it still crackled. Then I found this post suggesting turning off Gigabyte EasyTune. So, I exited EasyTune and no more crackling! I just tried this today so not sure if it is long term solution but I sure hope so!

Hope this works for others as well.

I've just had a similar problem: I have an MA790X-UD4P(X, not XT) and all voices were garbled, the music around it seemed fine...
It was solved with a reboot, but I'm still curious about this problem... Everything played fine before, the only thing I had changed was the energy profile to performance.
The computer was idle for about 30 minutes before I noticed the problem, but before, when I let the computer be idle for longer times, this problem did not appear...

Strange...
