(bad Sound) GigaByte MA790XT-UD4P on Win7

Hi i am running a on board sound card on my GigaByte MA790XT with logic tech X-240 speakers and my speakers have been cutting out a little bit its hardly noticeable its almost like a small cracking sound. These speakers are brand new? Is this windows 7? i am downloading the lastest realtek audio drive for windows 7 to see if that works.

anyone else have this problem?

Interestingly enough I'm running a GA-M57SLI-S4 and the sound is crackling too. I assumed it was the speakers because it's a $70 5.1 P.O.S setup, but maybe not?

Not running W7 here, but I do however use a Gb MA790-XT UD4P (7.1) mobo here, with a 5.1 Logitech setup, when using the Matrix function, the sound quality is scratchy and very distorted.

Haven't found a concrete solution yet, tough I've read a couple of forum posts indicating it is something that can be adjusted within the BIOS. Not entirely sure what's causing it, but I'm fairly sure its the Mobo BIOS rather than the speakers. (Logitech setup works fine through other PCs.)

Check the plugs on the audio cable and make sure that there isn't any grease or oil from your fingers on the contact pins which might cause an intermittent connection. Try an alternative cable - there are manufacturing tolerances with plugs and sockets and a different cable may work better with your current setup (even though there is nothing wrong with the other cable).

Same problem- not the speakers, and fine under XP

Did you manage to get this problem sorted?

I have the exact same motherboard with integrated sound, and I'm having the same problem- it's annoying (a bit like sporadic scratches on a vinyl LP).

I don't think it's your speakers, as I'm using headphones and still get the same problem. On top of this, the sound is fine under Windows XP, which suggests it's a problem with the Vista/Windows 7 drivers.

Upgrading the drivers to ones listed on Gigabyte's website hasn't worked, nor has fiddling around with the BIOS.

M Otherboard, welcome to the forums.

The driver from gigabyte is a couple of releases old. If you haven't seen it yet we have a pinned topic at the top of this forum with links to the latest Realtek audio driver,

Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

give it a shot if you haven't already.

Gave it a shot (actually, having taken a look at it, it was the version I tried already, but I did it anyway). Didn't work, sorry.

Nor did 2.30 or 2.20 ( Realtek, Windows 7 64RTM Crackle/static/popping ) as suggested by some. Nor the MS High Definition audio driver.

Thanks anyway
