Solved No 5.1 option in Realtek HD Audio Mgr - only stereo

Hello and thank you,

I have an Asus M4A89GTD Pro mobo, winch has on-board "Realtek ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC". This is a brand new build.

I'm using a TOSLINK optical cable to connect it to a Samsung HT-TX72 receiver, set up w/ 5.1.

I've downloaded, installed and re-installed the latest Realtek driver -10/18/2011, ver. 6.0.1.6482

When I open the Realtek manager, there are only two tabs: "Digital Output(Optical)" and "Digital Output" - see snip below. Thats all. Every tutorial shows 4 tabs, including "Speakers" - see snip below.

I've spent many hours searching for a solution to a problem no one else seems to have, so perhaps I'm missing something so very basic .

fwiw, I have downloaded the audio driver from ASUS as well, but it links to the same Realtek driver.

Can it be that 5.1 is not available somehow w/ S/PDIF? Seems unlikely.

- Supports Jack-Detection, Multi-Streaming, and Front Panel Jack-Retasking
- Optical S/PDIF Out ports at back I/O
- ASUS Noise Filter

The surround sound receiver will decode Dolby Digital or DTS encoded audio to 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

There is nothing for Windows to get involved with so there is no control panel for it.

Thanks for the reply Tae Song . I realized I had 5.1 while playing a game last night.
