No Audio Device Found
Today I was humming along on my Sony Vaio PCV-RZ14G in windows XP and decided to test out Windows 7 and went to the windows website and downloaded the latest RC build 32 bit version. The install and setup went very smoothly and I was thinking wow this is so cool. Then I noticed something strange, I wasn't hearing any of the annoying music that usually comes with installing a new operating system and little was I to know the true reason.
So after installing and checking out the system, which runs very nicely, I decided that I needed to get some work done and installed Office 2007 and Itunes with no problems. Then when I am adding my White Stripe music I find out that I have no sound, nothing...
after trolling around these sites looking for a solution, with updating drivers, etc... I have come to you looking for help.
I'm not very computer literate and I try my best to search for solutions before asking for help but this has got me stumped!
Why don't I have any audio device installed? When I go to control panel, then hardware sound, then sound it states, "NO Audio Device Installed" and everything is grayed out. Even though it says I have Realtek AC'97 enabled.
So like a lot of the other helpful advice I went on a search to update the drivers.
1. Used Windows updater to fix problem: I get a response can't install drivers (Code 10) and the name of the SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio.
2. So I go searching for updates to that, no help at all can't even get anything to install that remotely looks like a driver for it, even with compatibility mode and run as admin on.
3. Go to Realtek.com and download the latest drivers (HD) for Vista and 7 save the zip files and even try running from the .exe files and still have the same problem of no Audio Device found.
4. I go to Sony's website to search for the drivers and I get drivers that I can't even install on windows 7 in any type of mode.
So I beg of you please help me!
P.S. I tried to give you all as much of the information and codes as possible. I'm not a technical writer, etc... so if I need to give you guys more information, please tell me how I can get that information to you and I will do it.
Thanks again,
No Sound guy!
