Although a hardware issue has not been ruled out completely eiger3970, there would be a lot cheaper ways to test that out, using a hardware offline tool run from a downloaded DVD, and/or downloading a non-windows OS like Linux and seeing if the problem magically disappears, or persists (Cruxone Just wants to try to fix all the errors we have found with the windows installation. So it's a good idea, but it also won't apply to all computers. And we've been through d/l-ing the venders drivers, too but Congrats on your system!:)
Cruxone, I've usually found that the DVD-RWs are used for movies/music that is used for a DVD player on a home standalone player (and should be labeled with that type of thing) I'd have to search to double check myself, but I thought DVD+RW's are best used for computer files storage and DVD(+/-)RW can be used either way - although it really always comes down to the individual DVD/CD Player/Recorder. There are actually quite a few other kinds too, but I rarely see them. I have had trouble with using DVD-RW's in the past and switching to the plus type fixed the problem. So, That kind of leaves me unsure what to say, since - short of buying a Factory Full System Recovery Disc (assuming they produce them) for like $50 and waiting quite a while for it to be delivered - this will be your only lifeline and I don't want to tell you to take a chance, is it possible to exchange it for the +RW's , maybe? or do you have one or two of those aside from what you bought?........
