Windows does not recognise new soundcard

I have windows 7 Premium and I have been using my onboard sound (realtek) which came with my Motherboard (ROG Maximus IV).

I then purchased the Asus HDAV 1.3 Deluxe soundcard and installed in my PCI-E slot. The soundcard was not recognised by my pc at all. When I tried to install my driver, it stated that the card wasn't plugged in. I tried every PCI-E slot and eventually took it out and returned it. The shop I bought it from did prove that the card worked fine.

I then purchased the Auzentech X-Fi Home Theater card. Installed that in my PCI-E slot and again it is not recognised. When I try to install the drivers it just tells me that the card isn't installed. Windows has assigned generic driver but states it is not plugged in.

I have since given up (But kept the card) and have gone back to using onboard.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

When you tried the cards, did you check what was showing in Device Manager?

As you've tried two cards without success, there may be a problem with your motherboard.
