Realtek ALC 889 Sound cuts

Hi there,

I have motherboard gigabyte MA790GP-UD4H, which goes with Realtek ALC 889 A chipset. I have installed latest drivers from gigabyte and realtek (version 2.9 of codecs and AC97 codecs)

Tests runs correctly with "Dolby Digital" and 44.1 khz and 48.0 khz. Tests also works with "advnced options" "Dolby Digital Live (5.1 Surround)". I have also installed latest drivers for Divx 7

Media players like "windows media player" "gom" and "vlc" works, the media is reproduced with sound, but sometimes, quite oftem, the sound is cut for one second, and it doesn't not occur on the same place of the file, so it seems that it is not a problem with media file.

Someone has found a similar problem or knows how to fix it?

Are the music files on your local computer or elsewhere?

The music files are on the same computer.

After removing and reinstalling drivers the problem seems to be partially fixed. The sound cuts are now about miliseconds instead of one second, but there are still apreciated.

I am thinking of a codecs problem, or the CPU not using the motherboard media chipset (AMD 790GX). I had an Pentium 4 3Gz, and it works propertly with windows XP, and using almost 0% of cpu reproducing a mp3 file (I think) ... now I have an AMD Athlon X2 X250 with 4gb RAM and one CPU uses almost 15% and the other one almost 35% reproducing an mp3 (after rebooting the pc in order to be empty of processes and the memory clean)

The microcuts I notice seems to occur when a process, that I think could be related with sound reproduction, "audiodg.exe" goes to 0% of CPU, after that if use to go to 100% of CPU for some time, so the sound is good again, and keeps in around 17% with the sound good. These peaks of 0% occurs in intervals of 10 or 20 seconds.

I am concerned of the amount of CPU use with media files in a CPU and motherboard that should have a very good performance in media.

I have used windows media player.

I am also using the optical SPDIF output, that is connected to an Onkyo av receiver.

In Realtek configuration I have enabled "dolby digital" and "48.0 khz" in "compatible formats" (I have windows 7 in spanish, so I do not now if these are the right thanslation in english, sorry), and "Dolby Digital Live (5.1 Surround)" in "advanced options"
