I want to put speakers out on my patio, could i have 2 sets of speakers hooked up to my PC and switch which ones the music is sent to as and when? will i need anything special as in hardware or software?

Absolutely this is possible. Many people like to use their computer as a sound source and play music in one or multiple places. First a few tips which may be a little bit more information did you need. It's just that you have asked a good question.

Computers put out enough power to operate headphones or very small speakers. If you want to have speakers that play louder or higher quality you need to add an amplifier. If however you have a small set of speakers that are working well for you which are plugged into the computer directly just purchase a second set for outside and look at the ideas about switching below.
1) Speaker selection. Better speakers require more power. An amplifier can be built into the speaker. These so-called powered speakers therefore require either electricity from a wall socket to run the amplifier or batteries which you exchange your charge. For outside applications this need for power can be a nuisance. Also the audio signal to them is carried in cables which have RCA plugs on the end. There are switches which allow you to choose one or the other set of speakers. Switches that allow the signal to play to both sets of speakers at the same time are very expensive. None of these are major problems. However a better way is to route your computer into either your stereo or a small stereo that you obtain from RadioShack and then connect that stereo to your speakers inside and out. If you have a stereo in the same room as your computer this is a snap. Purchase a cord from RadioShack which has a 1/8 inch = 3.5 mm plug at one end and two RCA jacks at the other end. One Jack will be read the other will be white. Plugged those jacks into the left and right input plugs on the back of your stereo which are labeled for auxiliary. Then when you switch your stereo input to auxiliary whatever is playing on your computer will play through your stereo out through the speakers. Most stereos allow you to hook up two sets of speakers. The stereo will allow you to switch so that you could have either pair playing alone or both together. Check this before you buy a stereo. Then you are set. You can choose your speakers separately and they can be of better quality and do not have to be powered. The only wire that has to reach the outdoor speaker is the single speaker wire. They will not need batteries or electricity.
2) Speaker switching. If you prefer to use small and expensive speakers which are only powered by the computer you will need to purchase a switch for these as well. The type that are sold and are easiest for you to hook up would allow you to play your music in either the main room or the outside area but not both.

Step 1: Get a Y adapter for your audio in the back of your computer. Then get a double male cord. Attach the male side of the adapter into your computer. Then, attach your speakers to that. Attach the double male cord to the Y Adapter, then to your computer's audio input.
Step 2:
First, download Audacity. Its a free program. Just google it. Then, open it up and select the main input to default microphone. Select the audio output to your bluetooth device.
Step3:
Mess with couple settings in the settings and choose to have a live audio preview. Then, right click the arrow next to the microphone and select "Start monitoring" You'll have to mess with the volumes but that should work!
